The other week, I casually gave my boyfriend the spare key to my apartment so he can come and go more easily. It wasn’t a long thought out decision or even feel like a huge milestone because it happened so flippantly, so quick an exchange as we were heading out the door. But we went on with our day.
My friend Kaytes called me to tell me she got laid off from her job that she loved, although she was in relatively great spirits. We then had a lovely conversation about not being scared by the lows in life because the highs always came soon after in our experience. And we hung up and went on with our day.
Another friend of mine just turned 25. Instead of having a quarter life crisis, we discussed how we had been in the same bar two years before worried she would have to leave the United States, yet here she is now about to finish grad school with a job offer on the table and with such a beautiful life.
I have multiple friends who have already or who are about to move in with their significant other for the first time, and it all seems so natural.
The self assurance that grows in us after coming out of difficult experiences is what makes these big milestones so palatable.
why do big moments sometimes feel small?
Lately, it seems the big things are happening as easily as the little things. My favorite theory is when everything is going right, everything else feels so simple. But I know it’s also because we’re adults. We've experienced both the good and bad and have a better handle on what both look like. The feelings associated with big milestones also feel a bit cloudier, however, as we get older. Having experienced so much, along with the “natural” pressures of doing or having certain things by a certain age, can lessen the magic of moments that are supposed to feel so big. That’s why I try to commemorate occasions when I can.
the importance of grand celebration
Celebrating the big moments in a grand way, and the little ones every day, is so vital in remembering where you’ve come and honoring where you’ll go from there. There’s art in the way we party and it. is. special! that we have the ability to go out and giggle with our friends and be there to support each others wins. One week I could be celebrating someones wedding and the next I could be lifting someone up from a breakup, and they’re both as equally pivotal to our journeys. Everything deserves celebration in my opinion… and not in an overindulgent way, but in an enjoying the simple pleasures, happy to be alive, trusting the universe giveth and taketh away for a reason kind of way.
Loving
Chicagoooooo St. Pats! I love going to Chicago every year, but especially loved kiki’ing with my friend Sydney who recently moved there and my bestie Brayden whom I haven’t seen in awhile because he now a dad (to a little puppy).

Looking
Shot with The Vintage Ave for her most recent drop and it was such a sweet experience. I’m obviously a thrifted and huge vintage designer lover, so it was incredible to see her suite of products for the launch.
Below is the Gucci Slingback Bag (still available and perfect for traveling), the Tom Ford era Gucci Suede Heart Bag, Prada Suede Bowler Bag, and Prada mules with heart pattern and a little bow. I’m obsessed!

Little Luxuries
This is so random, but the Touchland Hand Sanitizer Mist. I need sanitizer with my travels and on public transportation, and this little spray one (I have the lavender scent) just makes me feel like I have my life together.
Lessons
Focus your energy on those who give you theres. (This may be next week’s topic, so stay tuned!)
You are perfect in every way imaginable!
